Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need edge ramps for gym flooring?
If your flooring has an exposed edge in a walkway or doorway, a ramp is worth adding. Ramped edges create a smooth transition from the tile down to the floor level and help reduce trip hazards. The Gymgear Premium Rubber Edge is 1 metre long and connects to compatible tiles using the supplied connectors. Edges against walls do not need a ramp.
What thickness of edge ramp do I need?
Match the ramp to the thickness of your tiles. The Gymgear Premium Rubber Edge comes in 15mm, 20mm, 30mm and 40mm. Sprung rubber edge ramps come in 15mm, 20mm, 30mm and 43mm to suit the Sprung PRO tiles. For PVC garage tiles, use the matching Checkerlock or Pennylock ramp pieces.
Do gym floor edge ramps need gluing?
Only if they are not locked into a compatible tile. Gymgear ramped edges and corners connect to Gymgear Premium tiles using the supplied connectors, with no adhesive needed. Where a ramp is not connected to a compatible tile, floor adhesive is required to hold it in place. We stock Mapei Ultrabond flooring adhesive. See all edges, ramps and corners.
Do you sell corner pieces for gym flooring?
Yes. The Gymgear Corner Ramped Edge comes in 15mm, 20mm, 30mm and 40mm to match its straight edges, and gives a neat finish where two ramped sides meet. Sprung offers a 20mm corner piece with its edge ramps, and there is an Easilock corner ramp piece for Easilock tiles. Order one corner for each outside corner of your floor.
